MANCHESTER, NH - The New Hampshire Institute of Art presents the second annual Artist Music Showcase on Saturday, April 16 at 7 pm in the French Building Auditorium. This event is open to the public and free of charge. The event showcases and celebrates the musical talents of the New Hampshire Institute of Art students. Featuring The John Singer Sargent Choir and The Rococo Rock Ensemble, the groups are directed by Institute faculty member Nanette Perrotte. People planning to attend are encouraged to come dressed creatively and be prepared to participate. “It gives the students a great way to express themselves,” Perrotte said. “The performers and the audience become part of the canvas and the theatre becomes the painting.” According Perrotte, the idea for the starting the choir was born from a conversation she had two years ago with Institute President Roger Williams. “He was looking for an activity for students outside of art and thought music would be a great creative outlet,” Perrotte said. “This is the first choir at the Institute and he (Williams) said ‘Not only can they draw, they can sing.’” Perrotte added that Institute students get a chance to perform on stage plus the Showcase is another way to connect with the community.
