Josh Tetreault splits his time between commercial endeavors as an art director and his collaborative work as a photographer/videographer, graphic designer, and creativity coach. Originally trained in graphic design, he soon began exploring other mediums such as fashion, set design and video art to incorporate these influences into his work.
Josh was chosen to develop the identity for the United Nation’s 59th Annual DPI/NGO Conference. He also made a name for himself by collaborating with Stefan Sagmeister on The L.A. Earthquake Source Book, creating three original artworks for important spreads within the book. Josh’s collaboration with Joshua Trees on experiments with typography and language was featured at the Colophon International Magazine Symposium in Luxembourg and won a Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the Type Directors Club.
Josh has worked at several different studios on large scale projects and pitches for diverse clientele from fashion to tech, law, and music. As a designer for Cahan & Associates, he helped develop the visual identity, merchandise, video, way-finding, and web design for VMworld ’08 in San Francisco, a 15,000 person virtualization conference.
While at Tea Collection, Josh helped grow and communicate the children’s fashion brand by developing 25 playful sizzle videos, as well as art direction and photography for photo shoots, catalogs and campaigns. Josh was also trusted to supply photo, video, and audio documentation while on culturally immersive design inspiration trips to Morocco, India, Bolivia, Argentina, Bali, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany.
Currently, Josh is a part-time faculty member at the New Hampshire Institute of Art where he can be seen teaching package design or a senior portfolio course. When not at NHIA, he runs a creative shop under the moniker MrJoshTate.
