Kate Christensen, a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, is the author of numerous novels, including In the Drink, Jeremy Thrane, The Epicure’s Lament, and Trouble. The Great Man won the 2008 PEN/Faulkner Award in part because of its “vibrant, curious, eccentric and fresh” female characters (according to one of judges). She has written articles, reviews and essays for numerous publications, most recently, the New York Times Book Review, Bookforum, Tin House, and Elle. She lives in Portland, Maine and blogs about food at katechristensen.wordpress.com. Christensen will be the New Hampshire Institute of Art’s Writer in Residency in June 2013.
