Leslie Adams earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Plant Systematics from the University of New Hampshire.  She has been an instructor in the field of botany, sustainability, and environmental science for 13 years and is adjunct faculty at both UNH’s Thompson School and Great Bay Community College’s Environmental Studies Program.  She also designs and teaches courses online for the University of Maryland University College’s Environmental Management program.

Leslie has published articles in numerous scientific journals and has worked with state and local conservation agencies, including the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Global Change Research Program. She serves as a Scientific Adviser for the Center for Biological Diversity and has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Supreme Court in that capacity.  While still deeply interested in research, in recent years Leslie has devoted more and more of her time to her passion for teaching. Teaching to artists holds a special place in her heart.  She says, “Artists are change-makers. They can take us out of ourselves; make us think of our world and our own mortality.  What they do allows us to address the Big Questions in life, and the natural world really needs that right now.”
