Printing Press Workshop with Lyell Castonguay and Carand Burnet

9am BIG INK talk, 10am workshop in Victory Park, 1-5pm printing
NHIA alumni, Lyell Castonguay and Carand Burnet, will be hosting a workshop on block-printing with a large-format portable press in Victory Park.
Castonguay teaches woodcut at print studios throughout New England. He is also the director of BIG INK, a collaborative project that encourages other artists to practice large woodcut. Castonguay received his BFA from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2010 and resides in Easthampton, MA. Forthcoming exhibits include Dedee Shattuck Gallery, Westport, MA; and Castle Agliè, Turin, Italy. Past exhibits include the Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea; Fine Art Works Center, Provincetown, MA; Western New England University, Springfield, MA; Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA; and the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, MA.
Carand Burnet is a poet and essayist. Her writing has been featured in Crazyhorse, Gulf Coast, Jubilat Poetry Journal, and her work is listed as a notable in the Best American Essays. She is author of the chapbook Henhouse (Projective Industries Press) and co-author of The Principles of Fraying (Factory Hollow Press). Since 2010 she has been an arts correspondent for publications including Art New England Magazine, Art In Print, Printmaking Today, and printeresting.org. She is the recipient of scholarships from the Key West Literary Seminar, The Fine Arts Work Center, and has completed a residency at the Turkey Land Cove Foundation of Edgartown, MA.
