High School Drawing 2012 Deadline for Submission

The New Hampshire Institute of Art is pleased to announce the High School Drawing Exhibition 2012, a nationwide competition for high school artists. This juried exhibition of drawing works will be on display in all gallery spaces February 24 –March 17, 2012.

ENTRY CONDITIONS

  • Entries must be original drawings created by current high school students (current as of December 2011).
  • Original artwork, including mat, must not exceed 28”x36”.
  • Only artwork in drawing media and completed in the last TWO years will be accepted.
  • Drawings from photographs or other printed materials may not qualify for award consideration but may be juried into the exhibit at the juror’s discretion.
  • Only 1 entry may be submitted by each artist.
  • Attn: High School Art Teachers: Please submit one disk per student.
  • Registration forms must be signed. Registration forms will be available on our website: www.nhia.edu. You may also photocopy this form.
  • Image and registration form are due January 13, 2012.

High School Drawing Exhibition 2012

Gallery Award Ceremony:
March 17, 2012, 2 pm, French Auditorium

The Institute will host a nationwide drawing competition for high school artists. Each year this juried exhibition attracts hundreds of exceptional entries by emerging artists from around the country. More than $10,000 in Institutional Scholarship will be awarded, including tuition scholarships to the Institute’s BFA program and Pre-College Summer Workshop.

Art Educators Summer Institute

Start: 06/24/12

Each year in the last week of June, art educators from around the nation are invited to participate in the Art Educators Summer Institute. The weeklong program enables each art teacher to earn 30 points of studio time towards recertification requirements. Educators are housed in campus residence spaces and are provided most meals throughout the program.

Pre-College Summer Program

Start: 07/08/12

This program is designed for high school students to build their college application portfolios and earn college level credit. Choose from a variety of disciplines including digital imaging, photography, ceramics, drawing, illustration, metalworking, printmaking and liberal arts that will provide an in-depth foundation to your college experience. Artists’ lectures, essay writing and portfolio preparation will compliment the studio activities. Outside the studio classroom, you will enjoy experiences that will encourage, educate and inspire artistic growth within a creative atmosphere. All students age fifteen and older, including high school seniors, are welcome to apply.

  • Participate in three classes in a variety of fine art and liberal art disciplines. 
  • Earn up to 3 college-level elective credits. 
  • Enjoy a stimulating and creative atmosphere at a fine arts college. 
  • Enjoy a field trip, artists’ lectures and amazing discussions with faculty and peers. 
  • Share ideas with other students and faculty and build a stronger portfolio.
