scanali@nhia.eduThe New Hampshire Institute of Art is moving forward with the credential application for the State of NH. The final approval of our Art Education curriculum will allow the Institute to offer K – 12 Art Education licensure to students who have successfully completed our program. BFA graduates from the Institute with Art Education certification will be prepared to become professional artists and educators.
The Institute is well known and respected among art educators in the State of New Hampshire. Our relationship with these educators allows us to offer real-world experiences where future art educators are challenged to put theory into practice. The program complements and integrates studio and liberal arts courses, maximizing the student’s experience and enrichment.
Art Education Curriculum
Students with a 3.0 GPA may apply to the Art Education (AED) program as early as the completion of first semester, sophomore year. AED students will earn a BFA in their declared concentration over the course of four years and will complete their K – 12 certification after a fith year. The AED curriculum requires supplemental studio courses in all concentration areas. This affords future art educators the competency to facilitate lessons using varying materials and processes.
Teaching Reciprocity
The State of New Hampshire participates in a reciprocal agreement with the NASDTEC Interstate Certification Contract, which facilitates the movement of educators among the states and other jurisdictions that have signed the contract.
