Teaching Philosophy
In every level of my instruction, I stress the importance of developing the skill necessary to communicate meaning. As the students develop skill, so grows their capacity to communicate visually. I teach art skills in a variety of art media. This enables the learner to see progress through completed products. Skill development gives the student confidence to explore beyond the surface of the technique and enter conceptualism through imbedding meaning in their work. The highest skill I seek to teach my students is to be self-directed learners. I guide them to see and create their own curriculum within the cognitive framework of the course.
