Curriculum of Study
The New Hampshire Institute of Art Interior Design Program introduces students to the history, aesthetics, methods, materials, and business of interior design. A series of required and elective studio and lecture courses provides a solid foundation for students interested in applying interior design concepts. A prerequisite of Beginning Drawing must be met and may be completed concurrently with Introduction to Interior Design. A prerequisite may be waived with proof of previous experience. The three-year program is sequentially designed. Students must complete the program within five years from the date of enrollment. Each year consists of three semesters: Fall and spring semesters provide 15-week requirements and shorter electives while the summer semester provides a selection of electives. Students are expected to keep all completed major projects as they build their professional portfolio and are required to exhibit culminating work in the graduation exhibition.
Below is the recommended sequence of required courses.
Please note: Courses may be offered in both the spring or fall and may not follow the semester order indicated.
