Teaching Philosophy
JILL WEBER has had a prolific career designing and illustrating books for a number of major publishers, including the bestselling Penny Whistle children’s series written by Meredith Brokaw. Her collaboration, with author Julie Salamon on The Christmas Tree, was a New York Times Bestseller and sold in twelve foreign countries. Christmas Tree Farm (Holiday House 2006), written by Ann Purmell, was a Jr. Library Guild Selection, and a winner of the Ohio Farm Bureau award for Children’s Literature as well as a New York Time’s Christmas pick in 2006. This successful collaboration was followed by Maple Syrup Season (Holiday House 2008) with both books highlighting life on a family farm. Just released in August was Even Higher: A Rosh Hashanah Story (Holiday House 2009), written by the esteemed author Eric Kimmel and chosen as a PJ Library selection. Madeleine L‘Engle’s The Twenty-four Days Before Christmas: An Austin Family Story (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) will be out in time for next Christmas. Jill’s newest book The Story of Esther written by Eric Kimmel will be published by Holiday House in 2011. Jill lives with her husband Frank and works from her home studio at Frajil Farms in New Hampshire.
