Teaching Philosophy
My passion for jewelry started while I was a student at Rhode Island School of Design. I entered school with the intention of becoming an illustrator; however I soon realized that I was drawn to working three dimensionally and found that making jewelry was the perfect outlet for my creativity. After graduating with a BFA in Jewelry and Light Metals I worked as a goldsmith for a designer in Manhattan. There I perfected my craftsmanship and attention to detail. Working with precious gemstones intrigued me and in 2000 I earned the title of Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. My fascination with the beauty of gemstones encourages me to continuously explore gemology through advanced studies. I design and create each piece of jewelry utilizing traditional goldsmith techniques. Combining 18k gold and platinum with precious gemstones inspires me to create lasting pieces of jewelry with an heirloom quality.
