Teaching Philosophy
As I was preparing for an early retirement from a 33-year career in Visual Arts Education and administration in the public schools, I was giving serious consideration to Chapter Two of my life. So, I decided to listen to the advise of Joseph Campbell and “follow my bliss”. As I’d derived a lifetime of great joy from designing and redesigning interior spaces for friends and family as well as myself, I decided to become a residential interior design consultant “when I grew up”. I have loved and found much success working with residential clients in both small and large projects in my business, A Change of Place. Along the way, I was granted the most marvelous opportunity of combining my two careers of “bliss”, interior design and education here at The NH Institute of Art. Now I have the opportunity to share my passion for, and commitment to excellence in interior design. The enthusiasm and hunger for information that our adult students have is a joy to behold. They are committed to gaining knowledge of sound design principles, space planning, the psychology of working with clients, technical skills, presentation skills and a world of information to support their personal interest in design or pursuit of an interior design career.
