Teaching Philosophy
Lawrence Christian began drawing and painting as a child, later focusing primarily on the human figure. Under the guidance of Paul Rahilly, he took a degree in fine art at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston and became an immediate presence in the ‘70s art scene. A member of the prestigious Boston Water Color Society and Nas-Rudin Gallery, Christian sold his works to collectors and displayed his art throughout New England. Unwilling to sacrifice his art to trends and popularity, Christian has for the last decades, kept his works mostly private; a choice that allowed him to fully develop his unique approach to self-expression. Artistic reclusiveness, rather than forcing an obtuse or dispirited style, has allowed his artistic voice to mature, arriving at a singular and unfettered style.
