The mission of the Advising Program is to facilitate student engagement and success with their academic endeavor. Advisors assist with implementation of advisees’ educational plans as well as serve as mentors.
Upon enrolling in the BFA program, students are assigned an academic advisor. The advisor guides each advisee in planning an academic program consistent with their interests and abilities. Course sequencing, curriculum requirements and Institute policies and procedures are communicated by the advisor. Advisors meet with advisees at least twice per semester. These required meetings provide a platform for mentorship, which include career and personal support. Advisors refer students to other Institute services, such as the Writing Studio, Counseling Services and Student Services, as appropriate.
The Director of Advising and Assessment manages implementation and evaluation of the Advising Program. The advising office is located on the first floor of 153 Concord Street.
