Writing Minor

The Minor in Creative Writing at New Hampshire Institute of Art

Within the context of a community of visual artists, creative writing minors at New Hampshire Institute of Art are afforded the opportunity to explore and to command various forms and functions of language. Students who choose a creative writing minor will become more confident and effective writers, developing skills useful for personal and professional advancement. They will also become better artists, discovering new and multiple ways of recording, seeing, and evaluating their worlds and their work. Ultimately, writers are artists engaged in an intertextual pursuit that complements not only the technical but also the conceptual objectives of both the studio and the liberal arts classrooms.

Creative writing minors will take a combination of foundational composition, upper level English, and creative writing electives for a total of 18 credits. They will be expected to maintain an overall GPA of 2.7, with higher attainment and commendation in their English courses.
