The Institute of Art and Design at New England College is pleased to announce its  annual Storytelling Festival on Saturday, November 2, 2019, 2-4pm at 148 Concord St, Manchester, NH.The event will feature a variety of  storytelling forms and will be emceed by New Hampshire Public Radio’s Peter Biello, the host of All Things Considered. This event is free, open to the public and handicap accessible.

The Storytelling Festival will be held in conjunction with One Book One Manchester, a community program designed to promote reading and literacy. This year’s book selection is KooKooland by local author Gloria Norris. A Manchester native, Norris began her career in New York as an assistant to film directors Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen. She has worked as a screenwriter with assignments that have taken her from Paris to the Amazon. As an independent producer, her films have premiered at the Sundance, Toronto, and Tribeca Film festivals.

KooKooLand is a bracingly funny and chilling true crime memoir and has been described as an unforgettable story of violence, love, and, ultimately, triumph. In keeping with the theme of Kookooland, this year’s Festival will call for entries from artists based on ‘growing-up.’ Writers, storytellers, illustrators, graphic novelists, creatives working in a wide variety of other media (both professional or amateur), are invited to participate in this Moth Radio Hour-style event. The stories can be true or embellished and each presenter will be limited to five minutes.
